We are currently working on updating our documentation. Thank you for your patience.

  • The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page may already have the answer to your question.

  • If a problem you encounter has not been identified elsewhere, or if there is a feature you would like to see in a future release of MyMouseHouse, we encourage you to submit the details using our online Request Form.

Known Issues

  • Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5): Cage View or List View will not display any data immediately after logging in to the server.

Java Update 2 (released September 24, 2008) fixes this issue. Please install Apple's Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2.

  • Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5): Cage Drag and Drop

The "Cage Drag and Drop" functionality in the Cage View is not working correctly under OS X 10.5 / Leopard. We will address this in a future release. The temporary fix is to either (a) drag and drop individual mice to the new location or (b) make a different window such as 'List View' active. See the demonstration in this short video (requires QuickTime)

  • Adding pups to a Breeding Cage

There have been reports of errors when attempting to create pups in a breeding cage that contains a male and more than one female. The most consistent fix is to set the cage status to 'idle' and than reset the cage status to 'breeding' before trying to add the new pups.

  • Deleting a Rack

The "delete rack" function (Cage View) may give unexpected results. The function was designed to place any live mice on the uncaged list and then delete the selected rack. We do not recommend using this function if (1) you have (or had) more than one Cage View window open during the current session or (2) if any of the mice on the rack are already set to be sac'd. If you receive an error message or experience problems try placing any live mice on another rack (or directly to the uncaged list) before you delete the rack.

  • A Cage disappears or a mouse disappears

Remember all changes need to be recorded and updated on the server. Wait for an operation to update before you try the next operation (especially true if you are not on a fast connection). Try using the Refresh button.

  • Link Files

We are not allowing attachments on the MyMH server as these can get very large (i.e. movies, large TIFFs etc). However we are allowing you to link to files locally. You will need to set up a local FTP server (preferably on the same subnet). Once configured you need to enter the correct Server info (address, login, password and pathway) in the MyMouseHouse Preferences panel. If you want other local users to access the same FTP server (recommended) we suggest using a machine that is always "on" and accessible from everywhere on your subnet.
